Masonry contractor in Indio, CA for brick, block and stone

Premier Indio Concrete and Masonry is a masonry contractor in Indio, CA. Our 16 services cover repairs to brick, block, stone and chimneys as well as new walls, fireplaces, walkways and paver driveways, so repairs blend in with what you have and new work is built on a sound base. The price usually turns on how much needs fixing or building, the material you choose, how easy the spot is to reach and whether a permit is needed. The schedule turns on the size of the job, any permit and the weather. I'll give you your own figure in a free estimate on site.

  • Stone masonry entry steps rise between stone-clad pillars and planters toward a home's front door.

    Foundation repair

Seeing cracks along a block or concrete foundation? We look for the cause first, then repair the masonry, so you're fixing the problem and not just the crack.

  • A broad patio of gray rectangular stone pavers with dark edging sits beside mulched garden beds and shrubs.

    Chimney repair

We rebuild loose brick, worn joints and cracked crowns, the concrete cap on top, so your chimney sheds water and the repair blends with the old brick.

  • A raised patio is supported by a curved retaining wall of tan and brown blocks, with a pergola and outdoor chairs above.

    Tuckpointing

What is tuckpointing? We rake out worn mortar joints and refill them with mortar matched in color and strength, for brick that's crumbling at the joints.

  • Stone steps wind through planted garden beds and boulders beside a black metal fence and low masonry wall.

    Brick repair

Cracked, loose or flaking bricks get cut out and replaced with brick and mortar that match yours, so the repair sits into the wall instead of standing out.

  • Multicolored rectangular pavers form a wide driveway leading to a white garage, with palms and flower beds along the sides.

    Driveway pavers

We build paver driveways on a packed gravel base with edging that holds the pattern, in a color and shape picked to suit your house.

  • A broad tan-paver driveway with dark gray accent bands leads to a brick house, bordered by flower beds and a stone retaining wall.

    Retaining wall construction

We build retaining walls for sloped yards and raised beds, with a proper footing and drainage behind them, because trapped water is usually what pushes a wall over.

  • A curved paver walkway leads through a landscaped backyard toward a lit patio, with a stone fire pit in the foreground.

    Masonry restoration

Is older brick or stone showing its age? We clean, repoint and replace what's failed and leave sound original work alone, so your house keeps its look.

  • Blue-sided house porch with timber posts, wood double doors, windows, and a gray stone veneer along the lower facade.

    Fireplace installation

Our crew builds masonry fireplaces indoors and out, in brick or stone, with the firebox and surround planned around how you'll use the room or patio.

  • A curved concrete walkway with dark stone borders winds past flower beds and a lawn beside a house.

    Stone veneer installation

Stone veneer is a thin face of real or cast stone. We set it on house fronts, columns and fireplace surrounds over the backing and drainage it needs.

  • Gray stone block retaining wall with a wood fence above it, surrounded by mulch and leafy trees.

    Concrete block walls

Need a property line or privacy wall? We build concrete block walls on a poured footing, with steel and grout where the height calls for it.

  • Covered outdoor dining area with a long stone-clad bar, rows of wooden stools, timber beams, and warm lights.

    Foundation block wall installation

For an addition, garage or new structure, we lay the foundation block wall that sits on the footing and carries the building, level and reinforced to the plans.

  • An outdoor kitchen with stone counters, stainless appliances and a grill sits beneath a pale pergola on a brick-paved patio.

    Outdoor kitchen masonry

Outdoor kitchens start with masonry, so we build the block frame, counter base and stone or brick facing, with room laid out for your grill, sink and storage.

  • Broad stone steps lead to a front walkway and dark entry door, bordered by flower beds and small path lights.

    Walkway construction

Walkways from the driveway to your door or out to the yard go in pavers, brick, stone or concrete, on a packed base that keeps them even underfoot.

  • Landscaped walkway beside a tall tan block retaining wall topped with black metal railings.

    Brick wall installation

What goes into a new brick wall? A solid footing, brick and mortar picked to suit your house, and joints pressed smooth so they shed water.

  • A stacked-stone fireplace with a lit fire anchors a covered patio with a wood-plank ceiling and wicker seating.

    Stone masonry

Natural stone walls, columns, planters and steps are laid by hand, with each stone fitted so the joints stay tight and the weight sits evenly.

  • Round stone fire pit with a burning fire set into a broad paved patio.

    Brick pointing

Brick pointing fills and finishes mortar joints that have small gaps or have worn shallow, so water can't work its way behind the brick.

Why homeowners choose us for masonry work

Thank you for considering us. These are the things I'd want to know about a mason before letting one work on my own house, and here is how we handle each of them.

  • You deal with the owner throughout

I come out to look at your job and write the estimate myself, and before we finish I go over the work with you, so the person who quoted it is the one who checks it.

  • Mortar matched to your brick

We match new mortar to the old in color and strength, because mortar that's harder than the brick can crack the brick around it, and a close match is what lets a repair blend in.

  • Estimates that say what can wait

Our estimates separate what needs fixing now from what can wait, so you can plan ahead and don't pay for work you don't need yet. I'd rather tell you a wall is fine than sell you a new one.

  • Mortar work planned around the heat

On hot days we plan the work and look after fresh mortar so it sets properly instead of drying out too fast. When you're ready to talk, call (760) 262-2338 or use our contact form.

Our process from first call to cleanup

Here's how a job runs with us, from your first call to the cleanup, so you know who you'll be talking to and what comes next at each step.

  1. Call or send the form

Call (760) 262-2338 or fill out the form with a few lines about what you're seeing or what you'd like built, and where the house is. We reply within one business day to set up a time for me to come out and see it in person.

  2. I visit and write the estimate

I come out myself, look at the work and ask a few questions about what you've noticed and what you want. Then I give you a free estimate on site that says what needs doing now and what can wait. There's no obligation, and if a permit is needed, I'll tell you then.

  3. Our crew does the work

When you're ready and any permit is in hand, our own crew does the job. We set up around your house and driveway so you can still get in and out, and if something turns up once a wall is open, I'll talk it over with you before we go further.

  4. We go over it and clean up

When the work is done, I go over it with you, looking at the joints, the lines and the finish, and answer any questions you have. Then we clean up before we leave, so what's left behind is the finished work. Thank you for having us.

Masonry questions from Indio homeowners

How much does masonry work cost in Indio, CA?

It depends on what's being repaired or built, so I give you a price after I've seen the job at a free estimate on site. On a repair, the price mostly follows how much mortar or brick has to come out and how hard the match is. On new work, it follows the wall's length and height, the footing under it and the brick, block or stone you choose.

Is it cheaper to repair a brick wall or replace it?

Repair is usually cheaper when the bricks are sound and only the mortar or a few bricks have failed. If the wall is leaning or the footing under it has moved, patching it tends to cost you twice, so I'll tell you at the estimate which one makes sense and why.

How long does a masonry project take?

It depends on the size of the job, whether a permit has to come first and the weather, so I'll give you an idea of the schedule when I write your estimate. Mortar and concrete also need time to set before a wall carries weight or a driveway is driven on, and we build that into the plan.

Does a masonry contractor need a license in Indio, CA?

Yes, for most jobs, because California's state contractor board requires a current license for work that needs a building permit, uses employee labor, or totals $1,000 or more in labor and materials. A larger job can't be split into smaller amounts to get under that figure, and the City of Indio also requires a business license of anyone doing business in the city. We're licensed and insured.

What should I have ready for a masonry estimate?

Nothing special, though it helps to know when you first noticed the problem and what you'd like the finished work to look like. If you have photos of the wall when it was newer, or plans from a past project, set them out, and I'll ask about the rest while I'm there.

Do you guarantee your masonry work?

Yes, our promise is satisfaction guaranteed on every job. Going over the finished work with you is part of that, so please point out anything you're not happy with while we're standing there together.

Should I get pavers or poured concrete for my driveway?

If you want repairs to be simple later, I'd choose pavers, because a cracked or stained paver can be lifted and replaced on its own. Poured concrete usually costs less up front, but a crack in a slab stays part of the slab, and we're glad to build either one.

Do I need a permit to build a wall in Indio?

Most walls need a building permit from the city's Building & Safety Division before work starts, though the city's FAQ lists low fences and walls as work that needs none. Even a low retaining wall needs one if it holds back a slope or an added load. If yours needs a permit, I'll tell you at the estimate, and we work it out with the city and pull it ourselves.
